Room-based Permissions
in progress
Steven Rogers
In an office space with dedicated personal offices, people would love to decorate and customize their office.
I imagine permissions would work similar to how Discord has permissions per chat room (Announcements tab is viewable by anyone, but only Admin/Moderators can make posts)
I would like to have rooms that are able to be locked only by managers, rooms where anyone can lock them.
I would like to allow individuals to "own" a specific room and customize the object placement and locations within the room.
I would like to disallow people from using TV Screens and whiteboards in public spaces where we want to keep a specific video on loop.
These permissions would be incredibly useful for setting up working spaces with multiple employees.

Custom fields and permissions

Allow admins to create custom fields that are not edited by the user. (e.g. corporate title, department, etc). Be able to give permissions linked to these fields. For example, have an office just for members of the HR department. Block access for all other employees unless invited in by a member of the HR department. This could also work great for academies where students are only allowed into rooms that are accessible to their cohort.
Would also be cool to have permissions on a space level. That way each department could have its own space/floor

Space-based permissions

It appears that permissions are set organization-wide. If we were to use spaces for smaller (8~20 person) teams inside of a larger org (100+ person), we might not want people to have the same permission between teams.
A manager on one team should not have the same permissions for an unrelated other space in the same organization.

Hello 주방현 - this is something we'll be working on soon! Stay tuned

This is right on target with our Roles and Permissions v2 push. Currently our roles and permissions only work on a team level across all spaces, but we have the plumbing to make it work across spaces and rooms as well - just need to finish implementing it.
I picture a space or a room being able to have permissions assigned to specific roles and/or users which would override their default team permissions for that specific room/space.
And Claus Agerskov I like your idea of thinking through entity level permissions as well, such as owning your specific desk in a room.

Wes Hather: I'm very happy to hear that this feature is already being worked on! I'm very much looking forward to it!

yeah its strange that my colleague cant move a stapler on his table or change the colour of his own pc

Thanks for the feedback MJ! Custom roles & permissions is something we've been thinking about lately, especially using these roles to guard access to specific spots/worlds.
